Narendra Modi is also the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and previously served as Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. He is currently the member of parliament for the Varanasi constituency. Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on September 17, 1950 (age 73) in Vadnagar, India. Indian nationality with political party Bharatiya Janata Party. His wife's name is Jashodaben Chimanlal. Residence 7, Race Course Road. Delhi University's alma mater Gujarat University Modi was the main strategist of the Bharatiya Janata Party during the general elections in Gujarat state in 1995 and 1998. 

Narendra Modibecame Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001. Modi was the main campaign figure in the 2009 Indian general election, but the Bharatiya Janata-led National Democratic Alliance defeated by the United Progressive Alliance led by the Indian National Congress. He led the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 Indian general election, winning a landslide victory and becoming the majority party in the Lok Sabha. Modi is a Hindu nationalist and member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Narendra Modi is a controversial figure both in India and internationally due to Modi's alleged involvement in the 2002 Gujarat riots. Modi's economic policies have been praised for being able to generate high economic growth in Gujarat. However, his government was also criticized for failing to achieve significant progress in human development.
